Build each short clause first. Add a connector only after you know whether the relationship is reason, contrast, condition, or sequence.

Worked payoff — contrast and reason

อยากไป แต่ไปไม่ได้เพราะฝนตก

I want to go, but I can’t because it’s raining.

Keep each sentence natural and the connection clear. A longer sentence is not automatically better. แต่ว่า can also express contrast; เพราะว่า can also give the reason.
